Since the beginning of 2018, HRS has made it a point to drop an album/ep release per month.. take a moment to ponder about that, 4 years.. that's 48 album/ep drops.. the journey has been tremendous.. the outcome? still to be determined.. Far from throwing in the towel, Myself(Hidden/HiddenRoad) and HRS are now ready to move on to the next phase of development. Moving into 2022 there will be some operational changes, but we will also be bringing back some old favorites.. If your interested in these changes and updates, stay tuned for the bullet point list later in the mail, but for now, lets redirect focus to the last HRS drop of 2021, from yours truly, HiddenRoad - Iso-Elation. Without a doubt my most personal writing to date, there are some aspects of my life on this track that I don't think I ever intended to channel into my artwork, but as I am often reminded, things and people change, and change often... so with that, I hope you give it a spin and maybe some of you will relate to the words within in a special way.

BIG SHOUT OUT TO DJ CHUCKY FOR CHUCKY'S REPORT 08 - AN HRS SPECIAL...

HRSUnderground Operational Updates/Changes for 2022:

After four long years, we are lifting the monthly release mandate. I think these last 48+ releases have shown that the HRS work rate is nothing to sneeze at. Going forward albums and eps will drop as they are ready, which will most certainly still be fairly often.
As has been the case in pretty much everything else in the world, prices are going up. That being the case, the #HRSAffiliate program rates will be increasing very soon for any new or returning subscribers . If you are locked in at a rate today, it will not change unless you choose to cancel or are cancelled due to missed payment.
HIDDEN UNDERGROUND IS BACK - effective 2022, we will restart the Hidden Underground world collaboration series. . by far our most successful endeavor; 2021 was a nice breather break, but its time to hit it hard and raise the hordes once again.. Vol.4: New Power Rising is already in the works, and turning out SICK. If you or your people keep with the dope underground ish and are looking to collab, hit us up.. always looking for new alliances.. 2020's vol.3 is linked below just to give you an idea how we bring it..
Going forward Hidden will be releasing all new music under the artist name "HiddenRoad" on all platforms; all features, collabs, and album credit listings should reflect this update as well. This change is in part due to how the major streaming platforms work, as it is, listing artist names differently on different platforms does a detriment to people trying to find it on whatever platform they choose.

Chucky's Report 08 - HiddenRoad, Eremitic, John Rhymer & ClarkyArtist

What's up everyone,

Excited to bring you this month's #ChuckysRepor t which I have decided to dedicate to all HRSUnderground artists this go around..

1. Hidden (HiddenRoad)

I'd like to kick things off with none other than the CEO of HRSUnderground, Hidden - the first artist to be be featured twice in an issue of #Chuckysreport..

The first reason I am featuring Hidden again is due to the ongoing support he shows me with #ChuckysReport , and for all artists within our circle. The second reason is that he is one of the greatest artists I know and he is constantly working on making better music and keeping the machine moving forward. Plus his style and concepts are extremely unique and the quality is always top notch with noticeable improvements all the time.

Not too long ago he released ‘The Lone Swordsman’ which is part 3 in a trilogy of releases. When I first heard it, I knew it was a great project. But it was only when I listened to it again that I truly realized how amazing this project is. I genuinely think it is his best project to date. There is not a single track that I would skip; each song is great both lyrically and production wise. This recent listen through it just hit different and was very impactful, so now I will be adding this to my collection in physical form via CD.

Be sure to check out the album I mentioned, ‘The Lone Swordsman’ and show him some support.

2. Eremitic

Eremitic may not have released much music recently, but he is someone I always find myself going back to. I honestly feel that he is highly underappreciated and deserves so much more love and support than he receives. Whether it's his different styles on vocals he can deliver, or his lyrics and flows, he always brings some of the best sounds out there. Plus, let's not forget that he can produce music like none other as well. Under his old alias 'A Dude Named Drew' he has produced some absolute bangers for Hidden, HRSUnderground, and many other dope artists.

My favorite song from him is called Prosaic; I can just relate to the words that he produced and the beat is dope. All of his stuff is worth listening too. I'm 100% confident whatever he releases next will be amazing..

3. John Rhymer (JRhymer)

Next up, lyrical powerhouse and #HRSAffiliate John Rhymer.

I've genuinely been a fan of this dude for awhile now and was surprised that I hadn't featured him yet. One of my favorite tracks of his is called 'Mental Hell'; this one is so damn emotional - I can't even imagine being in that position. The way John managed to put that song together and express his feeling made it really hit at the heart strings and make you sit and think about life as you listen to it.

Not only can he do the emotional real life stuff but he can also kill a beat with bars in an instant. He has a lot of talent and I can see he is going far in this music game. I wish him all the best and I will always support where I can.

Check out his latest project that dropped via HRSUnderground, "2+2=5" this album is an absolute banger.

4. ClarkyArtist (Clarky)

Last up for this month dedicated to artists from the HRSUnderground roster, I'm featuring an extremely talented #HRSAffiliate by the name of ClarkyArtist. Clarky is someone who I have known for a while now and highly enjoy his music. I am Glad to have some of his releases in my collection via physical CDs. This guy can deliver those emotional tracks but can also kill beats with bars at an instant depending what is required. I genuinely believe his style is unique and not something you see every day.

I know Clarky is going to be massive in the underground and he's already well on his way.

Also, this guy's talent when it comes to graphic design is next to none. He always delivers when it comes to creating artwork, lyric videos, graphics etc. Be sure to check out his most recent release 'Underground Influence' - you won't be disappointed.

Chucky's Report 07 - Syer B, G.M. B-Eazy, Emma Blackery, Faba & Greevz and more (Nov. 2021)

What's up everyone,

Got some awesome music to share with you this month so lets get right into it..

1. Syer B

I first heard Syer B when he was featured on a song with fellow UK grime artist Devlin and my immediate thought was that this is a deadly duo. After that I made a mission to check out his solo material and I will say I was not disappointed. I even went out of my way to get physical CDs, which I’m glad I now have in my collection.

He released a new album recently called 'Self Prognosis' – and after a few listens this definitely bangs from start to finish. Genuinely there is not a skippable track. He delivers with top notch bars and sick flows as I expected.. What did surprise me a little was some of his more personal tracks, like 'Nightmares' - which turned out to be my favorite track on the project. Another of my top tracks was the collaboration with Tommy B; this was a bar heavy track and both of them smashed it .

Overall this project is a certified classic in my honest opinion, so make sure you check it out and show some love. I’m sure you will fuck with it.

2. G.M. B-Eazy

Next up, I’m featuring a legend of the game who goes by the name G.M. B-Eazy.

I’ve known this guy for some time now and have always had respect for what he does for the scene. He’s always looking for ways to support underground artists, while creating some of the best music possible at the same time. B-Eazy truly has a lot of talent which I’ve been blessed to experience.

He has released a multitude of music and has featured on many dope collaborations. I’ve even had the honour of working with him, whether it was through one of his pages he runs or featuring him on my ‘Best Of’ series. He has always been supportive and I try to show that back.

Recently he released his final album called ‘Flowers’. Honestly this is a very solid album, while it is sad this is the last he is definitely going out strong. For me there are a few tracks that stand out, for example, ‘One Last Job’ which is my favourite track. Everything about it just feels right to me, whether the beat, lyrics or subject. I will be doing a full review of this album soon so keep an eye out for that.

3. Jasmine Thompson

Next, a singer songwriter who goes by the name Jasmine Thompson. I first found her through her cover of 'Let Her Go' by Passenger which was released around 7 years ago.

I honestly fell in love with her voice and went down the rabbit hole of watching her other videos, and even buying a few CDs. I continued to keep an eye for new releases and I would always check them out. I was always impressed with what I heard and knew the talent would keep growing and see success. As with most artists I did slowly stop listening as much, for the pure fact I listen to so many artists. But recently I have been roped back by her newer releases and she's still as great as ever if not better. I can certainly see her growth as a musician and that's always awesome to watch. I look forward to hearing any future releases and will try to stay up to date with them.

4. Emma Blackery

Emma Blackery is a singer that I have been following for quite a while. The main reason I like Emma’s music is that her style is always evolving from each period of time in her life / career - so her music always has a new flavour and never feels old to me. Plus when I look back at some of her earlier music in her career and compare it to her new music you can see her improvements. Which is something that always keeps me wanting to support artists.

I do have most of her music in my collection and I will keep on adding to that collection as time goes on. I truly look forward to what the future holds and can’t wait to listen to any future releases as I know they will be awesome.

Be sure to check out her latest album called ‘Girl In A Box’ which in my opinion is some of her best work yet.

5. Allie Sherlock

Next, I am featuring a young but very talented singer songwriter by the name of Allie Sherlock. I first heard Allie's music through a sponsored post on Instagram and decided to check her page out. I was impressed by the voice and enjoyed what I heard.

For me she has such a raw and powerful talent with the ability to do many styles. Her presence on the mic is amazing and I'm sure it will only get better in the future. I'm looking forward to watching the journey..

6. Faba & Greevz

To bring this #ChuckysReport to a close I have decided to feature the rap duo of Faba & Greevz. I knew of Faba from his work when he was purely a solo artist; I genuinely enjoyed his music and always loved his work ethic towards music. I didn't know Greevz before he formed this duo but I sure enjoy what he's doing as a duo with Faba.

Since these two artists joined together you can see the connection and drive build with every track they release. They never take shortcuts - they put everything into their work. Whether this be the songs themselves, music videos, shows or interviews. I can definitely see a bright and prosperous career ahead of them and they will only get better and bigger as time goes on.

Chucky's Report 06 - Ucanfind, Lost Angel Of Havik & Chloe Adams (September 2021)

What's up everyone..

After a few months off, I'm ready to make my return to sharing dope music in the form of my #ChuckysReport segment.

1. Ucanfind

Who better to start with than an artist that has just released an EP that goes by the name Ucanfind. The track that got me Hooked is called “They Said”. This track hooked me because I could relate to some of the content within the lyrics. Let’s also discuss his latest EP that’s called “Lighter The Photograph”, which is the first part of a two part EP and is his biggest project to date....

Overall it is a very solid project and I thoroughly enjoyed listening to it all the way through. My favourite song on the project is called “Solstice”, I can feel the emotion that has been poured into this track. I also really enjoy the hook and the overall production, definitely the best song on the EP. From the short time I have known of Ucanfind’s music, I have seen nothing but improvement and I’m certain that will continue. I’m genuinely looking forward to following his journey within the music scene and hearing what is to come next.

2. Lost Angel Of Havik

Next up, the highly under-rated artist by the name of Lost Angel of Havik . This guy has so much talent it is crazy, I genuinely don’t understand how he doesn’t get more attention. I first heard his music around seven years ago through Rippin Rhymes - some of the dopest artists in the game...

Lost Angel Of Havik is definitely a very versatile musician, he can rap, he can sing, he can do emotional songs and he can bring the heat with bar heavy tracks. Some of my favourite songs from him are when he is telling stories like his song ’This One Time’. I definitely see him going far and achieving a lot within music and I look forward to watching this happen and to follow his journey. Be sure to check out his latest song called ‘Lay’d Up’ which in my honest opinion is a certified banger.

3. Chloe A dams

Finally, we close out this edition of #ChuckysReport with a singer/songwriter by the name of Chloe Adams. If I remember correctly, the first song I heard of hers was called ‘The Doctor Said’, and it certainly hit differently.. While checking out her music, both covers and original songs, I definitely saw she had a lot of talent...

One song in particular called ‘Jail Time’ genuinely hit home with some of the stuff I was feeling when I heard it. This song got me hooked and I will definitely keep my eyes peeled for more in the future. Make sure to check out this song and more of her music on her channel, I think that you will enjoy what you hear.

I don't often comment on any one release of mine as there is a multitude of styles, genres, and sounds that I dabble with.. I feel that I am always growing and developing as an artist, and like many other artists, I don't often stop to analyze a previous work of my own.. however, in this case, I think it worth mentioning that this e.p. has some of the most real, deep, and honest tracks I think I have ever produced, written and recorded...

Chucky's Report 05 - Legion IV, Gentleman's Brawl, Potter, & Weezy Jefferson (May 2021)

1. Legion IV

To start out #ChuckysReport 05, the feature will be a Leeds, UK artist by the name Legion IV.

I have known Legion IV for at least 10 year as we went to the same school and I have been following his journey since then. His work ethic is insane and definitely something I admire. Whether its straight bars, melodic rap or singing he will always deliver dope music for your ears.

I believe he has an EP coming out later this year and if any of his previous projects are a hint, I already know it will be amazing.

Be sure to check out some of his music on Spotify, I'm certain you will enjoy it.

2. Gentleman's Brawl

Next, I'm featuring a band based in Leeds by the name of Gentleman's Brawl. I used to work with the lead vocalist, and when I first heard their debut EP 'Bare Knuckle' I genuinely loved it. Great production, whether its vocals, drums, guitar or any other part of the tracks. The chemistry they clearly have between each other is awesome when it comes to constructing a piece of art. They definitely have a big future ahead of them and I am excited to be able to follow it. Be sure to check out their latest music and show them some love.

3. Potter

Potter is another Leeds musician. In my honest opinion Potter is one one of the best when it comes to constructing bars and coming up with sick punchlines. Also I feel he can flow on pretty much on any beat imaginable; his talent is crazy. H e is very versatile as well, and he can produce tracks with topics that are very emotional and deep, which I feel are some of his best. Be sure to check out one of his latest songs called 'Lately' featuring Webbie below..

4. Weezy Jefferson

To wrap up this edition of #ChuckysReport I have decided to feature another Leeds artist by the name of Weezy Jefferson. Weezy is very diverse with what he delivers musically. Whether it be straight bars or fully produced songs, he always seems to deliver a masterpiece.

Be sure to check out one of my favourite songs from him called 'Only The Strong' taken from The Gift EP.

Chucky's Report 04 - Joey Nato, Killaform, Pale Riderz & Quadeca (April 2021)

1. Joey Nato

To start out this edition of #ChuckysReport, let me introduce you to Joey Nato. This dude can rap, sing, produce and do it all at such a great standard. This year alone he has released almost 30 songs, some being absolute bangers - Dude's work rate is nuts!! Also last year he completely produced an album in just 24 hours. The song I'm sharing below is called 'No More Marvel Bars' I genuinely love this track, so be sure to check it out.

2. Killaform

Killaform is one of my favourite arists that I know personally. He is an absolute beast and anyone who's ever dared cross him has been murdered on the beat. He's called a Killa for a reason - he has constructed some of the best diss tracks around... b ut its not only battle bars, the emotional tracks he creates are next level too. Always looking forward to new material from him. Check out this track called 'Shots For The Soul' another masterfully put together emotional song.

3. Pale Riderz

Pale Riderz consists of Don Ciotti, Hidden and Neaality Ghandi. As individual artists they are amazing and always deliver dope music for us all to listen too, but as a trio they are unstoppable. Bars, flows, and quality are all top notch and extremely hard to top. Check out the latest project called 'Outlawz' - they absolutely smashed it and the features are sick as well!

4. Quadeca

Quadeca is known for rapping fast but has so much more to offer. This dude has so much talent it's ridiculous... song writer and producer, dude can do it all at such a young age. He has been fairly quiet over the past year, but he is now back and has delivered his new project called 'From Me To You' This project is absolutely nuts and he has raised the bar for sure. The lyrics and the production are second to none.

Shut Up and March... Toward some Dope Updates from HRS (too much??)

What up,

When you have been doing something as long as I have been with this hip-hop ish, you have a lot of defining moments.. just to name a few:

The formation of HiddenRoad Studios..

Discovering likeminded artists and producers to collaborate with across the world and most specifically in the UK..

Releasing the first volume of Hidden Underground featuring dope emcees from all over the globe..

But today I want to focus on one standout moment from 2018 - when Neaality Gandhi & Don Ciotti joined up with HRS to drop the first Pale Riderz e.p. "Off Da Leash". I knew at that time that I was onto something with HRSUnderground.. that if I continued to link up and work together with likeminded artists collaboratively then HRS would continue to get bigger and bigger..

To put it bluntly: I'm proud of what we have done in a few short years.. and even more proud that I was asked by Gandhi and Don to officially join Paler Riderz for the follow up e.p. "Outlawz" ---- hopefully you will dig listening to it as much as I dug making it.

Chucky's Report 03 - Hidden, More Vicious, Gemiini & Crypt (March 2021)

1. Hidden

To start off this edition of #ChuckysReport, I'm featuring none other than the creator of HRSUnderground himself, Hidden. Hidden is crazy talented with a very unique style. He has the amazing ability to put together one dope project after the other. With awesome concepts and dope lyrics, each project is as good if not better than the previous. I'm grateful to be an #HRSAffiliate and having the opportunity to work closely with hidden when it comes to releasing my 'Best Of' series. Plus the label he created #HRSUnderground is one of the best around, pumping a project out each month for over three years! He has done an excellent job giving underground artists a platform to shine. Plus the merch he puts out is phenomenal. While you're here check out his latest project, Bless Up , and keep your eyes peeled for his future releases.

2. More Vicious

Next I'm going to feature More Vicious. I have followed More Vicious for a few years now and he has constantly improved throughout all of his releases. Genuinely looking forward to hearing new material from him when its announced. More Vicious can tell tell stories like none other; whether it's a serious topic or a horrorcore type track. He can even add a comedy element into his tracks if he wants too, the possibilities are endless with this guy. Plus he has some or the most catchy hooks in my opinion. His latest project, 'Gein, Myself and I' . truly has it all: serious, horrorcore and comedy elements. Definitely one I'm glad I was able to add to my collection.

3. Gemiini

The third up for March's edition: Gemiini. He has so many styles that he can tap into and it can be seen within all of his music. Ever evolving as a musician and creating his own unique sounds has been a pleasure to watch. His records are very well produced, also his lyrical ability is amazing; he knows how to grab the attention of his audience. I look forward to see what the future holds for Gemiini and I'll definitely be watching closely. C heck out his latest project 'Crooked Future' where he delivers some of his best work to date.

4. Crypt

To close out this edition of #ChuckysReport I'm featuring an artist by the name of Crypt. He is mainly known as a YouTube rapper who can only rap fast, but that is far from the truth. Yes he can rap fast but for me his storytelling is some of the best I have heard. His debut project 'Tales From The Crypt' is amazing with so many different styles, whether storytelling, ignorant rap or rapping fast. Plus it is extremely well put the together and has great production. Definitely looking forward to his follow up project 'Buried Alive'. Check out this song called 'I'm Not Okay' - this track is so well put together.

Just barely got this out in time but I blame February for getting punked by the rest of the months when days were getting handed out..

1. Mrs Rhymes

The first Artist to be featured on my new segment #ChuckysReport, is Mrs Rhymes. Mrs Rhymes is one of the first people to fully take the time to help me with my writing by giving me tips and tricks of how to improve. For that, I have a lot of love and respect for her. I will always be a fan.

She truly has an immense talent when it comes to creating music.. Check her new song out below:

2. DC

The second artist to be featured on #ChuckysReport is DC. DC Is one of the first artists that I did a collaboration with. We have a couple of songs together and I truly hope we have more in the future.

3. Eremitic

Eremitic is an extremely talented artist, who has dope lyrics and amazing production. This particular track which he released earlier this year is one of my favourite tracks from him. I just feel like I relate to the content a lot.

4. Cazniac

Cazniac is one artist i have known for a really long time and he has been constantly improving and looking for ways to up his game. He is so diverse when it comes to his musical style. He can make you laugh, cry, or even get hyped. Plus a we may have a little summat coming sometime in the future, I've only spent like 3 years with the track... just need to record it.

As we charge through the end of 2020, take a second to step back for a min and dig into The Archive.. for those of you rocking with HRS since the beginning, you are very familiar with name N95.. and it seems most fitting to mark the end of this most historical year (for many reasons) with a bit of history of our own.. Hidden & N95's first album, titled "Be a King.. Be a God" was the very first release on HRS.. and while this new project will be very far from the last for HRS, it is the end of the road for 'Hidden & N95' as a moniker.. Saved the best for last?? I think that to be a fair statement... but I suppose there is only one way to truly measure the words...

Underground Find 01 - Lineage ov the Lyricist

A new series of Blog posts... because why not??

To be honest, the HRS blog has been the least prioritized tool in the toolbox since inception... mainly because I'm not an impassioned writer (Side note, if you are or know an impassioned writer that wants to write blog posts about underground hiphop, hit me up!!). BUT, I do like to find and share some dope underground hiphop from time to time.. and how easy when it shows up in your inbox automatically..

So today, I'm gonna kick off this new series of posts with the first "Underground Find" submitted by Kensho Kuma - Lineage ov the Lyricist (mixed by Kevvy Kev)

I didn't enjoy every song on the tape, but the songs I did enjoy were dope enough to get me to write this blog post.. and that's already saying something for reasons stated earlier in post..

For real though, Dope rhyme schemes and flows.. give it a go

"Lineage ov the Lyricist" is an hour of unadulterated lyricism mixed by veteran DJ Kevvy Kev. The project took approximately 3 years to complete and covers a wide array of topics ranging from the current opioid epidemic to police brutality, and from public education to toxic relationships.

Kensho Kuma is a true practitioner of MCing and he is doing his part to carry on tradition.

Puppit - Write or Die EP (Review)

6 years removed from his debut as one-half of the Kentucky-bred rap duo, America's Most Wicked; Puppit, on his first solo offering, invites listeners to an anything-but-green view at all that ails him...

If there's anything that 26-year-old, Richmond, Kentucky native, Puppit (neé Jonathan Mason) knows, it's that trials and tribulations are a necessary part of the grand show we call life. In his short time here on Earth, the 14-year veteran emcee has surmounted his share of woes. From coping with the murder of his mother at the tender age of 17 to drug addiction; from battling to escape drowning in the suicidal waters of mental illness to the co-dependency of toxic relationships that only those who suffer can truly understand... All of this, while holding firm his aspirations of becoming a noted name in the state most known for its bifocaled Colonel's hermetic blend of herbs and spices. Over a neatly packed (21m 42s), and predominantly acoustic backed set, Mr. Mason puts 6 months worth of reflective penning into this self-recorded mic & psych session entitled, Write or Die.

The project opens with the intro track, "An Honest Attempt At Growth" , which finds Puppit detailing an incident from his childhood that would, although unknown at the time, serve as the palette from which he'd paint himself into unseen corners throughout his life. His storytelling ability shines here as he wipes an almost staccato flow over producer, Omgsora's ambient strummings. The hookless introduction (as most intros are) deals with anti-social behavior in its proper definition, which is such a breath of fresh air for the much misnomered word. In just under 3 minutes, a beginning, middle, end, and reflection are binded together beautifully as the set up for what's to come in the life and times of a puppet who refuses to move against the strings of a life predicted. This is probably the weakest moment of the project, as from this point on, we get a different animal of an emcee. The DAGA produced follow-up track, "Fuck Your Feelings" features a braggadocious Puppit proving his lyrical mettle over the aforementioned's slapping bass and piano instrumentation. The flow and bars here are "smooth like a muh'fuckin bald spot" with its rudebwoy delivered rhymes, and hommage to the dangerous Turpin and Ballard neighborhood of his hometown, where robberies, dice games, and lime-assisted bottles of "Bump" go hand-in-hand with good times. Although only 1 verse long, its wedge between a gritty and barking hook of "Tell that bitch\said 'fuck your feelings'\how I feel about it\ HEY!!", makes it a thing of replay-value wet dreams. After childhood musings and neighborhood naughties, it's Write or Die's third cut, "Old Ghost (City's Only Sleeping)" that finds Puppit baring a deeper piece of his soul over the acoustic styling of Ryini Beats, who appears twice more during the project. On this ode to his own suicidal ideations, and all that fuels them, Puppit displays a penchant for self-reflection that could easily be placed against Joe Budden's hailed Mood Muzik series. Citing death as an only friend during the times of his metaphorical (and real life) mire, the hook holds together verses that bleed the helplessness and hoplessness of a man too tired of fighting against his life's vicissitudes to fight forward where he no longer sees the point in fighting at all. Here, it is not Puppit who houses depression, but rather the latter that houses him. After listening to the EP's wayward protagonist invite a knocking Grim Reaper into this home, the door swings open in the form of a segue into Write or Die's fourth, and most lyrically dense moment; "R.E.D (Reticent Emotional Distress)". Where "Old Ghost..." found Puppit embracing the opportunity to drink from death's goblet, it's here on the Yusei produced "R.E.D..." that he displays the reluctance to swallow its toxins. While the hookless, "R.E.D..." comes off less like a stand-alone track than an epilogue to its preceding song; the pensive poetry offered here is gorgeously constructed. With his rapid yet rhythmic delivering of what feels like one's life flashing before the eyes, in verse; we get to see a different facet of Puppit's ability as not only a lyricist, but also a technician of rhyme structure. An anti-suicide note better experienced than written about, "R.E.D..." embodies why a project like Write or Die is even in existence. Next on the tracklist is "The Luxury of Subtlety" , where Puppit and Ryini Beats synergize to deliver what easily feels like the hit single of the EP. With its raw, live-feeling acoustics "...Luxury..." is MTV\VH1's Unplugged, executed as perfectly as could be on a recorded project. Singing (and impressively so) of a love now gone, and the feelings involved with its demise and acceptance of said relationship status, Puppit proves here that his pen knows no bounds. "...Luxury..." contains so much emotion in both the lyrics and vocal tones utilized that it's easy to get lost in the two-verse lamentation, with its über catchy hook, guitar slaps, and well composed pop-structure. After finally taking "...Luxury..." off repeat, Write or Die scribbles into its sixth offering, the Retnik Beats produced, "Murder In the Owlery" . On "Murder..." we get another helping of the Puppit that appeared near the open of the project on "Fuck Your Feelings". Heavy bass beat, hard hook, and enough bars and punches to warrant an I.D. check at the listening. "Murder..." is also a welcome break from an EP which until its time is pretty weighty on subject matter. Closing the project out is the last of Puppit and Ryini Beats's collaborative efforts, "The Motions" . On "The Motions" we get another relationship record, but done differently than previously heard on "The Luxury of Subtlety" ...This Puppit is three verses of great rhyming about a toxic relationship in all its inglorious luster. From appreciation at its finding, understanding of what\why it is, and the acceptance of its ending, "The Motions" is a penultimate of sorts where the "love" song is concerned. It's staunch honesty with lines like "amazed I stood beside you\then hit my knees to praise a golden idol\a girl who hates herself as much as I do\to find you in the reeds\ I searched not high, but low\and sank to depths that previously I declined to go..." makes it a sad occasion that the EP ends here, and really causes wonder of how an emcee of such an open caliber has gone unnoticed by the masses, thus far.

"But I could never right my wrongs unless I write'em down as well..." belted a 2012 Kendrick Lamar on his debut album's single, "Poetic Justice" . After listening to Write or Die hundreds of times now, I feel this line is the most fitting to open the review on an EP with such reach, not only out of Puppit's hometown, but into himself as well. Roughly 22 minutes of an all killer no filler project recorded into the microphone of his cell phone's ear buds, Write or Die kind of carves its own niche in a current climate full of trap rap and escapist lyrics. 1 intro, 2 bangers, 2 love songs, and 2 songs about pain and perseverance...all with great lyricism, structure, production, and hooks that stick like Thelma's oatmeal, make for one helluva debut. Puppit's ability to pour himself into each track is the highlight of every moment from Write or Die , and apart from wanting to hear a feature-length project, I can't think of a bad thing to say about it. Too much said here could only diminish what Write or Die ultimately is, and that is: a lyrical embodiment of the phrase, "pain shared is pain lessened".

Pros: sonically meshes (production choices), in-depth lyricism, varying cadences, subject matter, to the point (not a bar wasted), great hooks, short (no room for error), platform choice (Bandlab could really get a name off of this)

Cons: This wasn't a full-length feature

The HRS collective's eponymous debut, The Trinity, finds the HiddenRoad pros weighted under the cons of nature's strongest shape...

Hip-Hop/Rap

In 2017's The Boss Baby, 7 year old Timmy Timbleton declares that "3 is the perfect number", and even goes on to add the interesting fact that the triangle is the strongest shape found in nature. Here in 2019, Hidden Road Stuios' emcees, Hidden (of HiddenRoad), M-Acculate (of Lucifer's Apostles), and Canadian born, Anonymous assemble their own triangle offense on the group's eponymous debut offering entitled, The Trinity. The 8 track EP is set to the backdrop of Illternal Beatz, who not only serves as the project's sole producer, but also as it's only featured guest, appearing twice (on "Ded Lee" & "Quick Strike") under his rap moniker, Markie4eyez.

For those not understanding why, the triangle is the strongest shape because any added force is evenly spread through all the sides. On this eightfold foray, that force is established early on as the rapper, Anonymous, whose abilities as a rhymesmith are flat out bar setting. That even spread is in full effect as both Hidden and M-Acculate (no slouches in their own right) are pushed on each record to really go for the gusto, making for an experience that doesn't want for technically sound bars. Having only Illternal man the beats doubles that upside by bringing sonic cohesion to not only each song, but the EP as a whole. Dope bars. Dope beats. Not half bad...but not all good. A triangular construct under strong force willing never collapse due to geometric distortion. No, its Achilles comes only in the form of material fatigue...

On the EP's hookless, piano laced opener, "Introducing", Anonymous, prefacing his verse, states, "We keep hearing shit like 'hip hop is dead, but that ain't true... It's a line being drawn in the sand". For the remainder of the neatly packed 29 minutes & 37 seconds, The Trinity retraces this line until what's clearly supposed to be a divider begins to get lost, leaving one to wonder if it's not would-be challengers, but our presenting threesome that fear crossing the threshold. "Pop Off", which could've very much been the album's intro, and the following "Crush" are both pretty much in the same vein: offerings in which all 3 barsmiths keep the content restricted to rapping about how good they rap. Unfortunately, no matter how good they rap, the lack of diverse material eventually drags The Trinity into feeling like the same record over different soundscapes. The only song to step outside of the box is track 4, entitled, "Still", which feels like it'd been right at home on 2016's oft introspective, N95 produced, M-Acculate's Conception. Coincidentally, M-Acculate provides the hook as the trio laces Illternal's smoothest production with tales of the struggle, regret, fear, and perseverance associated with chasing one's dream of rap stardom. If bar heavy gauntlet style posse cuts is what The Trinity holds as a stronghand, then the Markie4eyez assisted "Quick Strike" is a zenith of sorts. Replacing a chorus are Transformers™ (the 80's cartoon, not the films) snippets à la HiddenRoad's 2018 Conflict EP, and the verses here find our emcees at their most even keeled up til this point (on the EP's first 3 tracks, Anonymous is in Super Saiyan mode. He's bested by both his affiliates and the production on "Still", respectively). "The Specialist" sees The Trinity back in their battle rhyme comfort zone alongside a scratched in hook by none other than Lucifer's Apostles', Rez. Really sticking an understanding to "material fatigue" is the EP's ping-ponged 7th and official last song, entitled, "Ded Lee". Featured for his second & final time on what sounds like it could've easily been "Quick Strike 2" is a horribly assembled Markie4eyez, who's completely outbarred on yet another hookless song. Adding slight insult to injury, Anonymous has a moment during his first time up to bat in which a few bars sound eerily similar to ones he spits on "The Specialist". The Trinity more fittingly ends with the trombone blaring bonus track, "Storm Coming"...

When someone draws a line in the sand, it's usually a warning... "This is us, and that is you", "Over here we do this, and over there...". Should the proverbial line be stepped across, its illustrator will surely be ready to show why it was a faux pas on the intruding party's part. Can it be that it was all so simple? For just under half an hour, The Trinity serves up their side of that line: wordplay over dope beats. The problem is that while their mutual support of one another creates this super strengthened structure, they fail at creating a directed point. Why it's supposedly better this side of the game. Material is reiterated and regurgitated, sometimes better than before ("Pop Off", "Quick Strike", "The Specialist"), but always the same narrative. This line of ours... If you're looking for the personal reflectiveness and musings of M-Acculate's Conception, or the immaculate conception of The Way of The Warrior, you're not gonna find it here apart from the aforementioned, "Still". This is a bar fest. If for no other reason than because they can, the "3io" never strays from their backyard. This isn't bad, because they really rap... But it doesn't necessarily guarantee it to be good enough to call full attention to it either. In any living and breathing art, lines needn't just be drawn and boasted from behind, but defined and pushed... Without this, material fatigue of one form or another will always become a problem. Be it the artist tiring from applying the same pressure, or the material crumbling from being forced for so long; a trinity by any name would meet the same fate. It's science.

Pros: Short, Sonically cohesive, Bar execution, Virtually featureless

Cons: Lacks subject matter, Lack of hooks gives a "cipher" feel to a majority of the EP, Lack of varying features

M-Acculate talks about upcoming HRS release "The Trinity"...

"6 of the tracks bring straight chaos and destruction to whack M.C'S..."

A couple of years ago, I (M-Acculate) got asked to jump on and suggest a couple more guys for a collab with a producer. At the time me and HIdden were already recording together frequently and i was fresh off completing a joint with Anonymous so i suggested those two. We all recorded but the producer stalled on the track for over a year. Feeling responsible for their efforts, i had them send me the vocals they had recorded and had Uncle Bungle recreate a beat to them which turned out like this....

We mutually agreed we had a good sound, i recruited them for a further collab (as yet unreleased for the next Lucifers Apostles album) and a cypher for my album with Markie4eyez/Illternal beats 'Cometh The Hour, Cometh The Man named 'Aces & Eights' along with Fubar MC, Gandhi, B-Eazy & Dr Voodoo...

We all then coincidentally chose the same beats for two songs on the HRS compilation 'Hidden Underground'

The first saw us back on an Uncle Bungle beat alongside frequent collaborator Mistah B...

However, it was the Illternal Beats Re-union 'The Storm' that really sparked an idea of turning collaborators to supergroup. The track had such an anthem sound to it and just felt like it was a warning shot of things to come...

It seemed natural and appropriate Markie should oversee the whole thing production wise. Over the next few months an inbox message thread sparked a lot of excitement, head nodding and friendly competition as we exchanged verse references, concepts and ideas. The project was such a pleasure to work on for me not just because i respect the hell out of these two as wordsmiths and Markie on the boards but because nothing was forced. It was such a mutual, natural flowing process. Even Markie himself couldnt resist joining the fun, adding verses to 2 of the 7 tracks.

6 of the tracks bring straight chaos and destruction to whack M.C'S with 1 track 'Still' being the exception, an ode to the struggles of life. Just to show a little diversity that we will show more of 'IF' all parties agree to a follow up, i will definitely be all in for working on.

I don't show my wife much of my music for many reasons which I will not get into on this post.. so I'll just keep it movin before I incriminate myself :D Anyways.. I only mention that because I make it a point to show ALL of Eremitic's tracks to her, or at least I have since he found his voice towards the end of his first playlist ColdNightsAndBlueScreens

I met Drew (Eremitic) back in 2016 I think it was... I still remember the first time we had an actual conversation that amounted to more than just small talk, I was cleaning my old Studio and drinking cans of light beer faster than I could get them out of the fridge...I have not had a drop in over a year, but back then??? heh.. ask anyone. Anyways.. back then Drew just produced.. Hard to believe but he has only been laying down tracks as a vocalist for a VERY short time. When I reflect on it, it's crazy to think how much he has evolved creatively since I met him.

Anyways... When I showed my wife she listened intently (she is much more of a fan of this type of stuff than the evil hardbody shit me and most of the HRS brethren make)... after the song stopped, she smiled and said "is Drew trying to get ALL the emo girls???" I couldn't do anything but smile and say.. "hell yeah that's what he trying to do!"

So earlier this year I got a message... to be honest with you, I don't really remember what it said. Pretty sure I was high as a mf wandering the neighborhood with my #1 dog.. and I don't mean dog like slang.. but anyways.. where was I?? Oh right, the message.. it was from M-Acculate. NOW, let me rewind a bit.. I met Max (M-Acculate) way back when HiddenRoad Studios first launched in 2014. I still remember that as N95 introduced me to him.. sent me a verse of Max's. To be completely honest, when I first heard it I was like what the fuck is this?!!?!?!

1. I could not understand most of the words..
2. I had NO idea that #hiphop... not just like, rap, but hiphop, real underground grimy raw dope shi.. well, you get the point. What was I saying?? oh yeah, no idea that this sort of shit existing in the UK (of course I know now it covers the globe, but at the time I was off the grid!)

Anyways, he ended up getting me on a track for "Devil's Lair" which I was SUPER FUCKIN PSYCHED about.. mind you, this was my first real collab offer since HiddenRoad Studios launched. So I did the deal and spit a sick verse, and gave it to him and that was that. Then he ended up dropping a verse on the first HRS release, Be a King... Be a God, on a track called "violence". Now, this is where i truly gained an appreciation for this cunt...

He sounded just as fucked up in the head as myself, and it seemed like I knew him quickly.. even though I still have not met him face to face to this day (soon to change in 2019)

OK.. where was I?? I should really put the joint down when I'm trying to do this shit. Regardless, Ever since I heard Max say "leave ya head spinnin round and round like a vinyl disc" on that violence track, his voice stuck out to me after that, and I quickly was able to decipher his lyrics and was sold(don't judge me too much, I'm from Texas and we don't run across many of you cunts often) ... So when I got the message earlier this year that said he wanted to be full on-board with HRS and help push the movement, I was FUCKIN PUMPED. And here it is, just a few months later and his addition to the team has already paid off in many ways.. So without further ado, welcome the #HRSGeneral, Fuckin Mad Max, The M-Acculate One!!! (rappers need lots of names tho..)

No matter where you were born, where you live, how you were raised, the color of your skin, we all know the dreaded feeling best described as anxiety. Anxiety is not a sign of weakness.. its actually a very important evolutionary remnant that likely could have been the difference between life in death in the great struggle we call life. In the modern world, Anxiety is said to be one of the most common mental disorders across the globe.. Personally, I don't find this hard to believe... I feel some level of anxiety emanating off most people I encounter in my daily hustle and bustle..

Dismay hails out of the land of oz.. I think my favorite aspect of #hiphop is that as it has become increasingly more common around the globe in the last few decades, it has drawn connections that would never have been possible before.. HipHop gives us a common language, and if we take the time to engage in the conversation, we start to learn just how similar we are despite the borders that divide us...

And I think that's a perfect segway into my usual yammering about getting involved... but seriously, I am always looking for collaborations in every since of the word.. if you would like to write some blog articles (such as this one) about underground hiphop HIT US UP. The more the merrier..

'VenomBonez' is the self-titled EP by producers duo VenomBonez (Venom & Skinny Bonez Tha Godfatha).

New e.p. by producer duo Venom Bonez packs the punch of a full album compressed into 6 tracks plus an instrumental... Or at least that's how it felt to me when i popped it on during a walk with the pup yesterday afternoon.. From the first track to the last VenomBonez production doesn't skip a beat.. hardcore, boom bap, pure hiphop orchestral sounds... just some words I would use to describe it. I enjoyed my listen of this project as much as I enjoyed actually featuring on it(track 2 with Gandhi)... A couple tracks of note for me are Four Horsemen and Deals in the Alley, on which Fubar fckin killed it as always. Great e.p. - Definitely work picking up a copy---I got mine!!

If you have not checked out the Aces & Eights Cypher from M-Acculate's last album then I just have one question... What the F*$^ is WRONG with you!!!

....but in all seriousness, you definitely don't want to sleep on this one.. features verses from a lot of #dope #HRSAffiliate 's and #Underground emcee's, like Anonymous, Fubar M.C. & Gandhi for example.. and even got a couple verses from yours truly on it which I'm quite partial too..

This album dropped earlier this year in August, and while not officially released through HRS, (this was worked on before M-Acculate took up the #HRS banner and started repping for the Underground as an #HRSGeneral) I would put this release bar for bar up against any other 2018 releases in the #Underground. The other half of Mugwampers, rapper SaIGO, I don't know much about. But I do know he brings it hardcore(as always) on this track and I definitely dig the energy he brings to the mic.

What up from the #Underground??..
